Hi there, new user hear. Please can anyone tell me if a mono TV will have a stereo output through the scart socket or does it mean that the TV has a mono tuner and so all outputs are mono. May sound a bit silly but I am new to this kinda thing. Thanks to anyone who can help!

As you suspect, it is very unlikely that a mono TV would have a built-in NICAM decoder, which is what you need for stereo TV. I've certainly never seen a mono TV with one.

Don't forget that you can connect a NICAM VCR to your hi-fi if you want stereo TV sound.

Thanks Guys. I think I will invest in a decent TV and pay that bit extra for Nicam stereo. Thanks Again.
