I am interested in this product, mainly fro music storage and plaback, and then secondly movies and photos.
Can you select tracks by genree, artists, etc
Can you create a playlist while listenoning to music without stopping the music first?
How brilliant and clear is the user interface? Is it attractive?
Can you connect a freeview tuner to it and then record of it.

In short I am looking for all the functionality of archos media player series (ie archos av500, archos av504, av604 etc) without added benefit of HD playing.

    Happy new year to all.

    In Answer to your questions:

Q: Can you select tracks by genree, artists, etc
    A: No

Q: Can you create a playlist while listenoning to music without stopping the music first?
    A: No

Q: How brilliant and clear is the user interface? Is it attractive?
A: GUI is 'functional' certainly not pretty but adequate.

Q: Can you connect a freeview tuner to it and then record of it.
A: No, [-]although there may be an add-on available to enable this.[/-] Not on the 4000P model

Playback from internal HDD is good and it works with loads of codecs. Supports HD content and has good range of connections on the back (sVideo, Component, composite, DVI, optical audio). Personally I'm having lots of problems with network features such as NFS/Samba network streaming and FTP access. If you don't need network access it's great, if you do then you may have problems like me, although many seem not to.

    Hi,

How do you select tracks if not by artist ?

Apologies if this appears, a stupid question.

    Many thanks.

Tracks are listed by filename. You could incorporate the artist into the file name I suppose. Alternatively you could place tracks in a series of folders named by artist. It doesn't have the functionality of something like iTunes though.
