TV to PC help please

I have a Hyundai HPTD-4202S and a Dell Dimension 3100

The TV has two inputs DVI-IN and RGB-DTV/PC INPUT my PC just has the standard VGA monitor output.

Am I right in thinking that all I need is a VGA to DVI cable?? Will that give me sound?

Or do I need a TV Tuner Card etc?

You will need to use the RGB-DTV/PC INPUT with a VGA cable from the pc. The TV should have a separate sound input, feed the soundcard output into this. If your tv doesnt have this then you will need to use an external amplifier.

You're right it has got a seperate pc sound input.

So should I be able to buy a straight VGA to RGB-DTV cable? Just looked on ebay and can't find one?

why ebay? has it not got a 15 pin D-sub (normal monitor conection?)

Bit of a noob so don't know what a 15 pin D-sub is???

The TV has:

DVI-IN
RGB-DTV/PC INPUT
2 Scarts
S-VIDEO
Audio L R Pb Pr and Y
PC Audio Input
Headphone Socket
Standard Aerial Socket

The PC has:

4 USB ports
1 VGA video port
Sound card connectors
1 RJ45 network port

does the "RGB-DTV" socket look like the VGA out on PC? if so al you need is an VGA to VGA lead few £

Ok so now it is working............but

My PC doesn't seem to know that I have changed the monitor and I onlyhave the choice of two screen resloutions in display properties 1024x768 or 800x600 how do I make the computer recognise the new tv??

perhaps you need to update the drivers on the DELL although 1024x768 is proabably a decent bet try 1280x720 if you can
