Is it possible to get the sound of the TV via scart to a DVD player with integrated 5.1 decoder? Would this provide Dolby Surround for movies or the Simpsons off the TV or Skybox?

I am considering the Limit 9000, Tosh 520 or Tesco´s Technika.

    Hi,

No, I'm afraid you can't do that as standard DVD players only have output sockets and no inputs. If you want to go for one of those all-in-one jobs, like the Sony DAV-S550 for example, I believe you can input other sources to make use of the built-in decoders and amplifier.

    Sorry, thats right.

DVD players with built in DD decoders are really to be used with amps that have no DD but have 6-channel inputs.

TVs with DD on board are really to be used where there is no desire for an A/V amp. They are acting as the decoder and amp. These tvs will have inputs but the probably don't have outputs.
