Question TV software update question

How are updates sent out to tv over the net. Reason I asked my TV a techwood I got it n July I been checking for update via TV monthly and only just received a update in February even tho the release date of the software update is dated December.

The TV checks a pre-programmed web address for updates and downloads them if it's told any are available.

The delay could have been caused by a variety of things. It could be something as simple as a staggered rollout to make it simpler to host the update (traffic spikes require more expensive hardware than an even load) or it could be something like waiting for the techwood team to add their branding to it and check that it doesn't interfere with any techwood specific software.
