Some of you must have noticed the number of luxury TV's and plasma's that have appeared on e-bay, not all of which are legit. There are a bunch of @rsehole's in Romania that think its cute to offer 60" Sony Grand Wega's for auction at daft prices. One in particular has consistently failed to hit the reserve which, through asking the seller direct, is up for grabs to anyone who can raise 2500 Euro's! Bloody good value at approx. £1600!

These t055ers insist on an initial Western Union money transfer of 25-30% to cover shipping of the unit and immediately pull the TV from auction. Abracadabra, the exact same TV complete with exact same page details and photo etc. reappears with a different sellers name 2 days later but still based in Romania. Payment details mention COD but the buyer is always veered away from this.

I warned a couple of guys away from this but unfortunately the girlfriend of one sent the full amount to Romania and is waiting for the couriers tracking reference to be sent by the seller. I would advise anyone out there to steer well clear of anything from Romania unless you get delivery before parting with your readies, don't accept anything other than COD, then watch them lose interest. And before you think the arguements one sided, they won't entertain escrow.

E-bay have promised to check out any bidders queries or concerns but they must do it through the proper channels. Even then they will not respond to any transactions made outside of e-bay, which is fair enough. Be warned, if somethings too good to be true, it usually is.

    Don't be a victim.
