The plan is this, convert an existing TV room/sitting room into a more modern home cinema that sometimes will also be used as a sitting room.

The aim is to use as much of the existing equipment as possible, while adding some modern features.

    Existing:-

    Panasonic Plasma TH-42PW6
    Denon DVD Player - 2900
    Denon AVR - 3802
Kef speakers - the original eggs

    New additions:-

    Humax FOXSATHDR
    Panasonic DMP BDT210
    Optoma 33HD
    Beaxmax 106" screen

(If this posts correctly I will start with some photos!)

Upload to photobucket and it gives you a link to the photo for use in forums.

Gep thank you for your help. Hopefully this will now work as a thread without pics is pointless!

The history of the room. House built circa 1900, bay window and existing fireplace. Dry rot in the wood coming from the bay window. Original plan to tart the room up, rather than major overhaul.

This pic shows the wiring for the original plasma and speakers post plaster. The screen will hang in front of the old panny. As you can see the plaster has had its first diluted coat of white paint...(I know white is not good but this is the first part!)

I will explain now that there is a big gap in the pictures during the work in progress; I wasn't such a keen member at that juncture, however you will get to see the initial outcome.

I would welcome feedback on my little project.

These are the last photos of the room prior to any serious work commencing.

All wires chased into the wall, under the floorboards into the AV Kit.

The canvas art is filled with insulation to try and improve the sound quality of the room

The original Panny now back in place. Prior to this the cables were not chased into the wall.

Since the start of the year I have been pleased with the room so far. The original Denon amp has been replaced with a Onkyo 609, the only major distracting is the white walls and fireplace (I wish I had found this forum a few months early!).

So today the colour change will commence, I am going to paint all of the walls the same colour as the wall behind the screen to reduce the light reflection. The wood around the fireplace will be black.

I also need to address the existing kef centre speaker. Either find a stand to increase its height or perhaps get a better centre speaker with a stand.

I really need some input on this final point gents.

    Tim
