Did anyone hear that someone actually complained that Fiona Bruce showing a bit of leg while reading the news.

Where do these people come from.

Do you know what. We sat and watched James Bond last night.

Baring in mind the top issue. We watched James pull a guy who he did not know of something shoot him dead. We all turned round and forgot James bond to discuss no one ever mentions this random killings we take for granted on TV. Sure its only acting. But That bad guys might have a lovely wife and adorable kids and bills to pay. There's no remorse is there its killing for the sake of it. We all watch it and no body says BO to a gose to they. But they write in complain about a news girl showing a bit of leg.

Do you think we bought this legacy of killing on ourselves. Children being bought up from very young watching cowboys and Indians and the like. you try telling those kids its not real.
So whats the long term effect on this.

Why is it all right to watch Rambo kill all of a police dept in gory detail but show sex no you not showing that.

why is sex taboo and killing not

    Rant over

That's the funniest thing I've read today

I do not think sex is as taboo as it once was. Mainly due to the fact I notice more and more 12/12A/15 rated films have the obligatory (soft) sex scene in them

    Hi Lisa,

In all seriousness, I think that the reason that someone complained about Fiona Bruce (see here showing "too much leg" on the news, and your view that violence in films is seen as acceptable, is for two main reasons:

    - one, the double-standards in US and UK films and TV about what you can and can't show, and
    - two: that the news is meant to be for educational and serious purposes, whilst movies and other such TV shows are meant to be for entertainment, and thus it's morally acceptable to se someone killing a whole load of other people, because we know it's faked. The news, though, is seen to be an institution, and not something to be messed-about with, to see which channel can get more poeple watching it. It's meant to deliver information and impart that information, without resorting to a proverbail p*ss*ng-contest between the BBC and ITV.

In Britian, we are more tolerant of sexual material, than violence. In the USA, though it's vice versa. Again, it comes down to context. Many older viewers of the news, don't want to see the presenting "sexed-up" to justify ratings. They just want the news delivered, in a clear, legible and non-biased format. Most people aren't bothered who does the reading, as long as they do it well. And established figures in journalism have been sidelined for new "sexier" presenters, instead, and that gives the impression that news journalism on TV is being "dumbed down". It's like the equivalent of The Sun versus The Times newspaper. Both may have coverage of a particular news story, but the way it is covered, will be very different. People see the way the BBC covers news, as more akin to The Times, and ITV's coverage, as being more for The Sun newsreaders.

    Another thing cough :)

    Thanks all by the way.

Why do ...... why do they need two people to read the news when they talk about they have not got enough money just get rid of one of them must be costing them ten grand a year

Why dose it take two people to do a radio one program when timmy banickburn managed it all those years on his own perfectly well and a dam site more entertaining .

why dose blue peter send the likes of there fabulous three all round the world at our expense to see how some child in Peru jungle makes an paper aeroplane sorry about that but I think you know what i mean. doesnt it make you mad too

    All double standards.

Yes, but that wasn't the filthy display of excess leggage that some people were (quite rightly) up in arms about.

    Angry of Tunbridge Wells.
