I've backed myself into a bit of a corner here...

The width of the opening is 1090mm wide.

I currently have a Samsung UE46F6500 filling my 'oil. But the industry appears to have ditched 40/46" options in favour of 43/49". I suspect driven by technical requirements of the panel.

I'm not actually interested in a replacement right now, but I am always on the lookout and evaluating my options. 43" seems like a backwards step, yet most 49" are >1090mm wide.

The Samsung 49” KS7000 7 Series has a Set Size without Stand;

(WxHxD)
1089.1 x 633.6 x 43.4 mm

Which is literally, scraping it :D

What do we think about the "standards" changing again?

Well, Hisense do 45" panels so who knows? I'm not sure it will go to 46 or 47 again.

The Hisense models at that size are low-end TVs though.

Good to know, but think I'd wait for the merry go round to go again before buying a HiSense, and just hope we see 46/47/48 at some point :)

The current production lines under construction seem to be using 10.5G substrates, which apparently work well for 75", 65" and 43"
