TV Cabinet, 65"+ with shelf for centre speaker.

Like a few on here I have been searching for a simple media unit that can take a 65" (or larger) TV with a shelf suitable for a centre speaker and AVR. I looked at a million sites with TV cabinets, many of which are totally frustrating for a few reasons:
  • How hard can it be to list the dimensions for shelves? Especially the height of the shelves. Even manufacturers dedicated to AV cabinets don't always list the shelf sizes (narrows eyes and looks at AVF amongst others).
  • I am not prepared to be gouged by the likes of BDI. £2,000 for a TV stand is ridiculous.
  • I didn't want chipboard, particle board or cheap MDF. Again, the prices of some TV/media units is ridiculous given that they are made of cheap chipboard.
I also wanted a deep unit. I am thinking of getting something like a Hisense Laser TV in the near future and this type of projector needs to be stood away from the wall. Most units that I could find were all about 40-43cm in depths which would have meant pulling the unit away from the wall a fair distance.

I find what I was after at Trade Furniture . The buying experience was quick and easy with the unit delivered in a week. The delivery was via their own van. The only downside is that the driver was on his own, so he needed me to help him lift the unit inside. This thing weighs a ton, so you would need someone on hand if you are not up to manhandling something of this size. It also had the depth that I was after at 55cm deep.

The unit is well made and built like a tank. These units have no problem carrying my 65" Sony and I'd have no hesitation putting a larger TV on it. There are a couple of holes in the back for cables, but I also drilled a row on 1 inch holes to improve the airflow.

The finish is spot on, and I think that it looks very pleasing.

Tons of room on the shelf:

That unit would be perfect for my room if it were a bit narrower (say 3/4 of that width.)

At 45cm, it's not deep enough to take my Yamaha receiver unfortunately.

People would recommend putting the center speaker on top of the cabinet.
There are concerns that the speaker is too low. And can cause audio issues when its enclosed like reverbs etc.

It's now sitting on top of the cabinet, though to be honest, I can't hear any difference whatsoever.

Thanks. Is it recommended for an AV receiver like a Denon X4700H and a centre speaker? I am looking for a cabinet that can take an AVR height and centre speaker.
