    Tutt :)excessive ornamentation).

As I'm getting older I'm trying to get rid of stuff and slim down. I've noticed a lot of my friends/relatives as they get older are turning where they live into mini shrines (to kids) and/or small museums to personal hobbies.

Dunno, I just like the idea of getting rid rather than emassing all this stuff that I don't need?

I'm with you on this one. Less is definitely more. If my missus had her way, or house would look like a tut or thrift shop.....

interesting that you call it "tutt"... ive always referred to it as "Tatt"....

but yeah, cant stand ornaments and all that kind of stuff, literally 1 or 2 pics of family in our living room and thats it, everything else is in there for a reason... much prefer the minimalist look...

I find myself agreeing with you on this. Particularly during these lean times I find myself more and more drawn to the idea of just selling everything.

My main interests in life are all away from the house, driving, travelling, sports etcetera so other than a well equipped kitchen, a decent bed and TV I'm not sure I need anything else.

Agreed with the above. Our house is pretty minimalist in terms of ornaments and things cluttering up the surfaces. We have pics on the walls, but all very tastefully done in nice matching frames etc.

However my wife can be abit of a hoarder (takes after her mum) so I have to keep her in check alot of the time! :rotfl: I'm very much of the opinin that if you haven't used something for 6 months, get rid!

My only problem now is our 6 month old baby daughter. Since her birth my minimalist look has to a certain extent been put on hold (toys everywhere). However I'm trying to keep most of them in the conservatory and out of the way! :smashin:

I hate clutter and love throwing stuff away. The mrs mum is one of the worse hoarders ive ever known and her 10 year old sister hasn't thrown a thing away ever. Even though she will
Never play with something again and it's up In the loft the moment it's suggested maybe she give something to someone she suddenly might play with it again.

I have 4 kids, and I try to keep my home minimalist, but at the moment it's not minimalist enough for me click on link in my sig for my living room. .

im terrible at hoarding stuff. garage is full of crap from the move 14 months ago. office is full of crap too. spare room has some in too lol. and the shed is full of stuff too.

i just dont like throwing stuff away if it might be of use. too many times have i gotten rid of something only to need it a couple of months later.

in fairness when we finish the office it will have loads of storage space for a lot of this crap to vanish into. and i cant get into the front of the garage as i tried to park a bit too close and knocked the door off its track (oops)

still, not sure why i have a box with spare floppy drives in. my old vhs player and tonnes of old dvds that wont even fit on our shelves (and we have 35m of DVD/book shelves in the lounge!)

with a 19 month old in the house i tend to just keep putting off doing these boring jobs in favour of spending more time with him (and after 12 years of DIY im bored to death of it lol)

I'm also not very good at throwing stuff away, especially since (as above..) I will end up needing some of it at some stage - I'm not talking about paperwork and that kinda stuff, but more about cables, adapters, components etc. I still think I'm okay compared to a lot of other people, I do go for a big clean-up every 3-4 months and clear out a fair bit of stuff that has outlived its usefulness.

My parents on the other hand are terrible, they just accumulate stuff... At least I know where I got my tendency from!

My wife and I don't hoard but both work from home and this means that there is a lot of equipment in use and on view. Little or any of it could be described as 'decorative' though. My major concern come the time is that as a whole the house is almost heroically child unfriendly.

i was wondering if it may sound quite good due to the slightly different shape...

aww man... get on it, i'm seeing a big sofa between the 2 beams and a huge screen where the headboard of the bed is... you'd easily get 7.1 in there as well..
