I bought a pair of PX4s and find them to be a good buy. Sound quality is good and they are easy to set up. I would take a look at the headsets that Sony are bringing out though. They are roughly £50 cheaper will do the same job.

Bought a set this avo. First impressions seem pretty good, (couple of hours of Outlast and a quick go on BF4.) Pretty comfortable to wear and nice and loud and punchy. You need to run a wire (supplied) to your DS4 for chat, which may put some off but it doesn't bother me.

A good suggestion above though, to wait and see how the new Sony's are. Me. I couldn't wait, and wanted a set for Outlast, so I went for the PX4s.

I'm looking at the PX4s and the difference between this and Sony's new Wireless 2.0 headset is that these are truly Dolby Digital Surround Sound whereas Sony's is 7.1 virtual stereo surround sound only. Also the Sony headset lasts 8 hours whereas PX4s supposedly almost double at 15 hours. You get what you pay for I reckon.

Anyone finds the PX4s for sub £100 can you please post in this thread. Thanks :)

I got a pair of TB X-Rays which are essentially the same as the PX4's from this guy on ebay, seems to be a Turtle Beach outlet:
    officialturtlebeach | eBay=
Great communication if you ask anything and delivered fairly quickly. I couldn't be happier with this headset for the money.

I got my PX21s from the same outlet. First set didn't work and they replaced it really quick and as a goodwill gesture they sent me a 5.1 dss (dolby sound processor).

Only problem with the xrays is the fugly black ops 2 branding and missing the blue theme matching the PS4. Tempted though...

Ha ha. Yeah, the Black Ops branding put me off a bit, but its not too in you face like the new white Ghosts ones.

Also I don't have a PS Camera yet so nobody can see me wearing them!!

Overall I'm very happy with the headset, couldn't believe the difference it made to playing BF4.

Tech radar reviewed the steel series at 250 quid, and the Sony gold at 130, both got great review scores. Bear in mind that the golds can be bought for 63 quid delivered from video games plus in Canada.

Game sent me out 2 copies of Gihost by accident - only paid for one :) so took it back to store and got a credit note for £49.99... Bought a pair of PX4 - i wanted wireless ones as am sick of wires everywhere these days.... sound is class, brilliant for FPS and added bonus with bluetooth its hooked up to my iphone i can take calls mid game and its just like having a normal comms chat with everyone online.. nice touch!
Plus it works via netflix and blurays so can chill without waking up the neighbours

Is it annoying having to hook up the chat cable to the controller to chat?

Nope as had to do that on xbox 1 so used to that! I haven't actually spoke to anyway via normal chat yet, am pretty sure Bluetooth via headset works fine for it though which removed need for wire! Let me test that theory out this evening, as been running solo I haven't needed to use chat function fully yet, Bluetooth via phone will in game is class

Say you answer a phone call, does the game audio switch off completely? Also when the phone rings can you still hear the game audio.

Headset rings in my ear and also still hear game sounds. It would be like playing a normal game and being in a party chat. Doesn't switch off, plus on head piece u can adjust phone volume if need be as well. I thought that was a cool feature. What u can't do is play music from phone via Bluetooth however that didn't work when I tried it

Cheers Ryan, that sounds great. Might just go for it as it doesn't seem a big deal having to connect up the chat cable to the controller when you wanna chat to people.

Just waiting for the price drop to £99, gutted I missed it a few months back!

I've got the x-ray's too. I found them in Game for £99. They had been traded in but were in immaculate condition. More than happy with them.

I'm not too sure that these are teh same as the PX4's though. It seems from what other people have said in this thread that the PX4's come with the chat cable for the ps4 controller. These don't have that cable. Or maybe it's a case of them being identical aside from branding & not having the cable?

Def need to use chat cable for talking but that isn't an issue tbh mate. Also found few things online regarding best set up for headsets depending on game mode for surround sound settings 1 to 6 which change on wifi receiver and then you also have 4 different settings to change things like amplifying foot steps and reducing explosions sounds. I was playing search and heard the lad reload his gun and was able to work out roughly we're on map he was after playing around with settings.. Not just ordered myself a new TB stand to rest them on

Can anyone tell me what the "Surround" light on the receiver means? I can understand what the Dolby light means, but the Surround one has me baffled.

    from the user guide

Digital Input LED: This LED turns on when a digital input signal
is detected. When this LED is ON, the analog input is turned off.

Surround Sound LED: The LED will light whenever the digital
input is being processed by the surround sound decoder.
When this LED is off, the audio signal will be heard in stereo.

Dolby® Digital LED: The LED will light whenever a Dolby
Digital encoded signal is detected on the digital input.

Power/Link LED: When the transmitter is powered on and
communicating with the headset, this LED will be on solid. If
the LED is slowly pulsing/off it indicates the transmitter can’t
communicate with the headset. This could happen when
the headset is out of range, turned off or not paired with the
    transmitter

So the light your asking will output stereo if not lit ..if lit its getting 5.1

Thanks but I'm still not sure in what situation the Surround light would come on but not the Dolby light (or vice versa)

if you set your primary audio source on the PS4 as hdmi the dolby light will be on and the surround light will be off , ...try it

you are getting dolby signal but in stereo ..dolby does not always = 5.1

    Got it, thanks.

Out of interest, which surround angle (1-6) does everyone use? I was playing NFS Rivals tonight and couldn't make my mind up!

Loving them at the moment. The directional sound is an improvement over my last TBs and much more convenient keeping them on my head when getting the door instead of needing to take them off.

Hope Sony bring out an update to make them truly wireless but not really a biggie having to connect the wire to the DS4. Also wish that the variable mic monitor adjusted chat volume and not the level of your own voice. Apart from that I'm really happy with them.

I see a chat volume on the headset but it makes no difference
Also do you get the sound coming out your tv as well as headset at the same time?
I have to mute my tv all the time..
