I'm looking for advice on buying a turntable with 33/45/78 rpm speeds to allow me to archive some old records to CD. I also understand that some 78 records have a slight speed variation so a deck with a variable control might be advantageous. Also, presumably I need to change cartridges when switching between vinyl and 78s? Cost effective suggestions welcome please.

Hi, this might be the one:- Dual CS5000 or for a new table' Project

With the Dual I would check for belt wear, bearing wear etc, before buying if poss.

Project Phono SB with optional Stylus 78 Should cost you £225 and connect direct to CD recorder as in has an internal phonostage.

Thats a bit pricey i would expect that setup to sell for £210 seeing as the Phonosb project debut is £170 and the stylus78 is £40.
