Turntable for Denon 2307

Hi

I have recently purchased a Denon 2307 and now wish to add a turntable. It has a dedicated phono stage (one of my considerations when looking for an AVR) and now wish to add a turntable.

I have my grandads 10 year old sony HiFi with turntable that i am currently using but this has had to go in the loft due to a house move.

Searching the threads the Project Debut III appears to be the budget turntable of choice as i have to admit the £50 Bush one was my first choice but doing some research on here it appears its okay for the money but it would be worht spending the extra on the Project.

RS have aristons etc for sub £100 but am i right in thinking that the Project should be where i go?

I also considered the ITTUSB Ion turntable but this dosen't get good reviews here that i can see.

Thanks in advance

The Debut III is the popular choice at the moment as you say. If you aren't happy searching Ebay for a 2nd hand TT, I would go for the current 'bundle' going at 'needles and spins' as shown on another thread. While the phono input would be 'ok' on the receiver, it is often added on modern amps as an 'afterthought' rather than as a dedicated, hi-spec, section. Only a few amps (below the £500 threshold) have had decent onboard Phono inputs going as far back as the late 80's tbh.

To keep costs down, I would suggest getting the Debut III on it's own, then maybe trying the external phono stage later.

If you are looking to keep your vinyl going on a serious basis, then these days a sub £100 deck is not the way to go. The days of the likes of Dual and Nad producing quite awesome (for the money) TT's for less than a £100 are long gone.

Get the Debut! :D

The only problem is, that you have to be sure what you want to spend. For around £170 you can get a decent TT such as Rega P3 or an older deck such as Rega Planer 3 or a Manticore Mantra. Or for around £250 you can pick up a good condition Roksan Xerxes 1. The latter of course, is in a different leauge to the budget decks you are looking at.

At the moment this little gem :- http://http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Systemdek-with-Origin-Live-modded-RB250-Rega-P3-Killer_W0QQitemZ160064631738QQihZ006QQcategoryZ3283QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
is running on ebay.

However, to keep things simple, the Debut III is an easy choice!:D
