Hi guys, im after a bit of advice having decided I fancy a turntable I realise im a bit out of my depth. Im just looking for something budget for now as I dont own any vinyl yet! The amp is a pioneer 2011. Do I need a pre-amp with this? I dont mind getting something second hand but the budget has got to be less than £150, prefrably cheaper.

    Cheers in advance

    Hello,

I have the same problem. I have an old akai turntable that has served me well but I would like to upgrade to something a bit better. I have an external phono pre amp stage but that definitely has to be upgraded. I have been looking at the pro-ject phono box and the Azur 540p and for the turntable I have been looking at this http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/225

The other route is to upgrade the phono stage and buy a better cartridge for the akai TT
