Hi, does anyone know what time ITV will be showin the match and whether it will be the full game or just highlights? I'm too poor to go to the pub and I haven't got Sky yet.
I know it will only be 'live' on SKY but ITV have got the rights to show the game after 8pm. If it's on at 8.30 that will be good.
ahh sorry didn't read your post properly! Anyway checking here (the link might not work) on the itv listings it says the show for international football starts at 9.35 Hope thats helps a bit more
It does help thanks. Makes me think I might be better off asking my mates Dad to record it so we can watch it straight after with a few beers and a take away (works out slightly cheaper than going to the pub).
OR you could get the beers in early and have the take-out during the highlights sounds like a plan...am I invited
I'll be watching it on Sky, but if I had to watch it on ITV I would miss the first few minutes so I didn't see the faces of the presenters - they may give something away. According to Digiguide the program starts at 21:35.
You mean if Des has hung himself we may have lost Actually they may well fim the show earlier 'as if' it were live so as not to give anything away.
I would invite you if I had a house that was liveable. Actually I've invited myself round my mate's house, but he doesn't know it yet I might have a few beers while I'm finishing off some painting, actually better not I'm sure it will look great until I sober up!!
Does it annoy anyone else that games that are as important as this one to the national team can only be watched live at home if you hand over about 50 quid to Sky? I don't subscribe to Sky any more, but I really think matches like this ought to be free to view. I'm glad at least we can see the highlights on ITV. I don't like going to the pub to watch big matches, as more often than not it seems to kick off in the pub more than on the pitch. A few years ago, the French were trying to create an EU rule protecting citizens' rights to see sports of 'national interest'. It's a shame it failed.
I'd like to see more football on normal television but would hate to think that the French had some say in the running of this country
anyone got a bad feeling we are gonna get a pounding at the hands of Turkey? I've got a feeling it'll be 3-0 or something. Hope not, but my guts are churning for this one. Besides, why the hell are Turkey playing in a EUROPEAN cup. Don't they have the middle-east cup or something?
This is the sort of game that can only be watched in the pub with your mates. This will be an easy England win.2-0
I hope we do win as I've already got my tickets for Euro 2004 all the way through to the final (well the FA have taken my money up front for them and I will get them as soon as they are printed !!)
I prefere to watch high pressure games like this at home - the tensions to much in the pub (along with the female "there for the event" fans) But I think it will be an easier game than everyones expecting.
Not all us girls go to the pub just becuase there is a large proportion of men when a footie match is on you know!! I would prefer to go to the pub as the atmosphere is always better but then I always get some tw*t who is about 7ft tall that will just come and stand in front of me, and at least at home it doesn't take an hour to get served I can have as many beers as I like I don't rate us at the moment and I'm a bit nervous about it, but then again Turkey are hardly consistent and if their game plan is to dive all over the place and try to get our players booked then I reckon that bald Italian ref will sort them out. My prediction would be that we'll win it 2-1 Turkey will score first and one of their players will get their marching orders when Rooney is brought down and Beckham scores the winner from the penalty spot!!
Sorry - I didn't mean all girls, just the ones in the west end who spend the whole game with with the best seats and back towards the screen.
No need to aplogise I was only joking, girls like that annoy me too, if they don't want to watch the footy they should stay out of the pub until it's finished!
Well it'll be fun in our house, my wife being Turkish She has this funny idea that I will be cheering for Turkey with her and her friends At least we will get to watch it live on Turkish satellite
Tracey... I think based on height alone, we are missing soul mates...me and you should be together...how can we deny the love between two munchkins? me jest...your still too tall for me!
Let's not forget - Turkey have NEVER scored against England. And with a back two of Campbell and Terry, why should they start now ! Anyone tell me why Vassell is only covering for Owen ? Surely with Vassell's international scoring record you can't afford to not at least bring him on as sub.
I actually thought Terry was pretty good at first but the last few times I've seen him play I can't believe how slow he is, anyone with the pace of a donkey could outrun him from behind! Vassell may not be doing much in the Premiership at the moment (is he even playing) but he's always been great for England, and I'm not much of a Hesky fan but I think Hesky and Vassel might be a good partnership, Hesky is good at holding the ball up and he doesn't fall over as much as he used to!! I'm getting really nervous now
I think we maybe surprised - I don't agree with the squads attitute towards Rio being left out...personally how can anyone excuse the actions of Rio - I wish the players would have used their noddle and realised that it only served to make them look selfish etc in the media... That saying, I think we might be ok against Turkey - this could bring the team together more? I'm not sure about Vassel, he's great at international level, but he's never one to reproduce it for Villa...maybe he needs a big club with top players to bring the best out of him?
