I wonder what will be on the 4 disc set? Will they just repeat what what on the fellowships's 4 disc set. I can;t see they can get that much new material as most of how the film was made is on the fellowship

Well I'd guess at a fair chunk on Gollum. Maybe more on Howard Shore (rather short changed on FOTR). What about the makeup & the wigs. Deconstruction of the helms deep sequences. Loads & loads of things to talk about - can't wait

after finishing the fellowship Peter Jackson went to new line and asked if he could do a special edition dvd they said yes

after finishing the two towers he was told to cut the film down from 4 hours to 3 hours but that he could release the four hour long version as the special edtion

oh yeah dont gorget everyone that the extended edition differs a lot from the normal version because of the sound. The normal version will probably just get Dolby Digital whereas the Ex edition should be in DD5.1EX and DTS ES!:D
Looking forward for a lot more bass using DTS ES!!!! (the battle scene oh yeah)

The theatrical cut will also be EX encoded, but will probably not feature DTS (going by the FOTR releases)

I just hope that they will release a "corrected" Faramir story. Forget about taking Frodo to Osiligieth (sp???). He should be noble and honorable and say something like "even if I found this ring on the highway I would not use it" :D

This is from Ain't it Cool news (so please engage your bulls**t detectors), but allegedly there will be no extended trailer for ROTK attached to the end of the TTT theatrical run (which was the case last year for TTT and FOTR) as Jackson and his team are too busy working on the TT extended edition. To quote "harry" quoting Peter:

Which bodes well for the TT ext dvd being another little gem!!!

Let's hope they get the pitch correction right for
the region 2 release of TTT as the sound quality is
better on the R1 release of FOTR ex.ed. compared with
the R2 due to the fact that poor pitch correction was used
when transfering the ntsc master to pal.

Personally i am not bothered regarding DTS. DTS on the extended edition was dreadful not a patch on DD EX version.

Infact DD soundtrack on the 2 discer, is absolutely incredible.

    Good call!

I haven't read the books & have no real desire to do so but have thoroughly enjoyed the films except the Faramir/Frodo relationship which didn’t seem to make sense.
Hopefully it was a case of enforced running time cuts that can be reinstated.

    Cheers, Paul

Are we talking R1 or R2, I only have the R1 EE and the I think the DTS-ES is sublime, the DD track is nowhere near it, and I heard that the 2-disc DD is too loud and sounds compressed.
