I've just acquired a Sony TRV355e, mostly to capture some old Hi8 footage, as my old V800 gave up the ghost. I can play back the Hi8 material and output it as DV through the iLink to my WinXP Pro PC. Whilst previewing with Video Studio 8, it looks and sounds fine APART from a small band of picture noise at the bottom of the window. This noise is captured on disk as well. I get the same behaviour when playing it back on my Win2K Pro Vaio using the Sony DVGate software. When I view S-Video through the PC capture card there's no picture noise. When I play back some footage shot in DV mode through iLink, there's no picture noise. I conclude that the camera's on-board A-D conversion is to blame. Has anyone else experienced this? Have I overlooked something?
