A R1 SE has been mooted for some time, but has yet to benefit from any real information vis-a-vis dates & specs.

The UK DVD has recently been re-released and is now censored. Those who got a copy of the first "pressing" have an illegally-released uncut version. The uncut R2 UK ones have the older style of BBFC logo (where the tiny letters BBFC in the background are in capitals). The re-release (bbfc in lower case) is the cut one.

I remember James Cameron saying he wasn't too interested in revisiting True Lies because he didn't think a comedy about terrorism was in the best of tastes at the time. Don't know if he still feels the same way, but obviously a special edition without Cameron or Govenor Arnuld wouldn't amount to much.

So its probably just best to get a copy with the best picture and sound and hope a fuller edition gets released in the future

There was an online chat with someone from Fox over on the Home Theater Forums last year, i think it was, and he said that there is a Spec Ed coming this year but i'm not holding my breath as there has been no other news.

And Cameron was aparently refering to the sequal when he said he "didn't think terrorism was a laughing matter anymore".
