Well, as any responsible review will never talk about spoilers, what exactly would watching the entire show give you, that this review doesn't feature? Of course, should things (other than spoilers) change from Cas's initial thoughts, the review can be updated as the season progresses.

... you dont feel cas needs to view the whole season to review the whole season?

      err, ok...

Whats next, film reviews from trailers?.

Come on this is silly, you cant call this a season review, you need to have another category for this kind of thing, season teaser?

I looked at reviews last night online to see how it was received, many reviews out there and yes, they are obviously reviews of the first 2 episodes so far.
I find the review "so far" useful to simply highlight the season has started as it would be another 6-8 weeks before the full season review could be discussed....

Edit: There is a preview thread for this from our fantastic
@raigraphixs - I assume links can be created between threads to keep discussions together..

Where I agree it is useful to have an early review of the beginning of a season and I always enjoy reading Cas's reviews even if I dont always agree with his critical appraisals, it should not be called a Season review when it isnt.

When the Season is completed and that gets a review, what do you call that full review?, real review?

      Perhaps call it:

I hate that NowTV is still living in the dark ages of 720p. Even when they sell 4K boxes! It's absolutely ridiculous.

I understand they want people to obviously have Sky TV instead. But even so, broadcasting at 1080i wouldn't be too much to ask in 2019 would it?!

I'm really surprised that you're so unfamiliar with this practice.

Google 'True Detective Season 3 Review' and look at the thirty one critic reviews on metacritic. They are ALL done based on the first 1-2 episodes. And all called True Detective Season 3 Review.

For what it's worth, if we waited until the show finished, the first episodes would no longer be available to watch anyway on NowTV, so it would be kind of pointless.

I think you'll find that NO 'season' reviews are based upon watching the entire season, press only get access to the first 2-4 at best (or, for BD releases, the first couple of discs). At AVF we're actually the rare exception because when full seasons land on Netflix (or even NowTV - Get Shorty), we go out of our way to nail the whole thing in a couple of days before writing a review, and similarly insist on full season copies for our home format reviews.

In practice, though, even after finishing a show I often find myself reviewing based on the first few episodes anyway though because - as Phil mentioned - if I were to go any further it would be spoiler territory.

You really want a flavour of what a show is like surely, rather than a blow-by-blow all the way to the conclusion (which is what wiki is for).

most of the people I know who use NOW TV dont even know what 720p is, all they know is it looks fine and its cheaper than other avenues. I think now TV is perfect for the every day TV watcher personally.

what I think is much worse if paying for HD or 4K and getting a horrifically compressed picture, some low light stuff is still completely watchable even in 1080p on most if not all platforms, and dont get me started netflix being blurry for the fiirst 5 minutes of every episode when I have a 200 gig pipe.

Well your're right of course, I'm clearly out of the loop here, how long has this being going on?, I thought this was only for those seasons that were released in bulk?

That it happens this way doesnt make it right though, still think Season Preview, Season Taster or something like that would be more accurate.

Or just way what it actually is like here.

Agree completely especially after they said they would move to the cutting edge 1080P before 2018 was out...
However, if you shop around, £3 per month is worth it and tbh, my oled upscales it nicely, it looks decent, would still like it to be at least 1080p though, never know, it may happen by the time 8K comes along....

I think Cas' review covered it. I like the fact that they've gone back to the theme of the first outstanding series, although the story line may be too closely linked for some. The second episode was a dog's dinner and really unsatisfactory.

Really good second episode, fleshing out charcters. Enjoying it.

While this series does have a lot of elements in common with the first one - multiple timelines, occult elements and extreme mumbling - at least this one feels like another instalment of the same show, where the second felt too disconnected. Was totally riveted for the first two, and great to have a new series on where I am genuinely looking forward to the next episode.

Thanks Cas This is my fav genre currently watching mindhunter. Loved the first two series especially the first, Matthew McConaughey acting was just great. Also enjoyed the second series they are well written

I normally wait till all the series is complete to watch just cant be waiting a week for each episode. I do like Mahershala Ali so looking forward to starting this

First two episodes or not does not matter to me it gives us an early insight and is normally consistent

Dorff's character adds little to this and it certainly appears to be the Ali vehicle that will either come good or crash...

I had to look twice to see it was dorff he has aged, as we all. would agree season one was unmissable, season two not very good at all. season three hope it stays as good because I really can't believe things unravelled so early in the first two episodes "you know what I mean if seen".

      regards o..

You are right about the mumbling. I had to turn subtitles on for the first episode for the main actor while he was being interviewed. Even with a decent pair of headphones on I couldn't hear everything he said.

Majority of us loved season 1 more than 2, 3 feels like 1 again and I love it.
Three timelines and they are not really that confusing like that German series *DARK* was like.

Looking forward to the rest of the season.
My recommendation for Season 4 would be Nicolas Cage and Brad Pitt, just putting it out there folks...

I think Season 4 is going to tie seasons 1 and 3 together.

Only 3 episodes in but it's sooooooo sloooooooow, almost too slow.

Season 1 was So amazing though that anything less is just a bit meh.

I like flashbacks as much as I enjoy dental surgery with a cattle prod.
This is a media crime against humanity.
Punishable only by a slow [on screen] death of the screenwriter.
Preferably involving sharpened pitchforks, a raving sociopath and red hot lava.
I hope there were no spoilers in my tirade? :p

Right there with you on that.

      I even hate flashforwards too.
For example, when you start watching a programme, something crazy or shocking happens, then it cuts to 2 days ago, or 1 week ago or some other bollox and you have to wait the whole episode until it catches up.
