They look identical, because the studio is Warner Bros, there is no way there will be a DTS version. Hence the only reason not to go for the UK version is PAL speedup, if you don't notice this then go for it.

This is quite often mentioned on these forums but after releasing a few early titles Warners own technical engineers did not believe there was any difference between DD & DTS. They do however occasionally do DTS if the director/production company specifically request it.

Please don't start another DD/DTS thread.

The R3 is quite cheap on CDWOW (£10.24 with the forum's link). Its a 2-disc set. The extras listed for it are not the same as the R1 or R2, but they barely list any extras at all. It would probably be safe to assume that it will be the same as the others. And its out earlier than the R2 too!

I haven't seen this. I thought that it looked ridiculous from the trailers!! What's it like?

    You're right, it was ridiculous.

Quite simply one of the most WORST films I have ever seen.

Rent, beg or borrow if you can. Don't waste your money on a blind purchase on this turkey.

I reluctantly added it to my web site below.

Hi - I noticed the R4 on dvdcrave the other day with a release date of 20/10/04 (?) Dont know if anyone can confirm this ?
The R3 is a poser - I wonder if the extra disc will be like the Hero one (all in Chinese with no subs!) Great film mind you (Hero that is not Troy) ;)

Mr Furious, Troy may well be better than those mentioned, but on a greater scale than 2 films I would say it was, simply put, a let down !!

On alternative films - watch Collateral and Unstoppable with Wesley Snips.

Slightly off topic, but couldn't resist sharing this...
My train to/from work passes through deepest Essex, and I overheard three girls on the train home when Troy arrived at the cinema:

"Shall we go and see Troy tomorrow night?"
    "Yeah, I LOVE Brad Pitt!"
    "Does he actually play Troy?"
"Don't think so, not sure who he plays"
    "Who plays Troy then?"

    I love commuting...... :D

Diabolical film. Very very disappointed. I was brought up on the story and was really looking forward to it. Miles away from the "original" story. Read Roger Lancelyn Green's book "Tale of Troy" for a short, entertaining and accurate version of the story. Not a DVD but much much better than the film and a hell of a lot cheaper!

    Agreed,

A bit of a stinker this one. Never have I seen a cinema full of customers laugh out loud at such tripe. Some of the dialouge used in this film is awful and it is full of **** poor titilation.

I think that people like Brad Pitt simply cannot deliver the bombastic lines that they had..I think Wolfgang Peterson wanted it to be a Ben Hur or a Spartacus but without the acting ability of some of the greats that starred in those films.

That said, I like Brad Pitt. Generally very good.

All in my humble opinion of course.

    Cap :)

Anyone know if the R3 version is shipping from CDWow yet as they started shipping The Day After Tomorrow R3 release last week and that is officially released only two days before the R3 of Troy so it might have started to ship by now.
