    Hi there,

I have a Sony STR-DB1080 AV receiver. I bought it about 2.5 years ago.

It is connected to a set of Bose AM 15 5.1 speakers.

Recently, when i tried to play a CD, i turned the volume up to the normal listening level and could hear nothing from the speakers.

When i turned the volume ALL the way up, i could heard the music but it was accompanied by a loud humming sound.

I then changed input selection to the tuner. This did not work either, but again when i turned the volume all the way up, i could hear the radio. In the background was not only the hum i mentioned before, but i could also hear the CD playing in the background.

I tried changing the input to another source (which had nothing connected to it) and i could still hear the CD.

The AMP is placed near a door, which was left open on Saturday when i did rain a bit, and though the AMP was perfectly dry, i thought it may have moisture in it. To clear this out, i left the AMP on all night but that didn't work.

I am lost, any thoughts, ideas?
