As seems to be the trend these days, Disney have released Treasure Planet over here with a dts soundtrack, where the R1 version is devoid of this. However, as a lot of people here know, it dosen't mean I'll be putting my R1 version up on the classifieds - all I'll do is up the LFE and rears by 5 db's each and hey presto - dts!!!:smoke:

Now all you have to do is do something about the 3:2 pulldown and somehow increase picture quality and your there.

I don't know eh...read the post again. It say I wont be putting MY REGION 1 version up for trade...I already have the R!!! In progresive scan via my PJ, so the 3.2 pulldown is working fine with me!!
And as you might be able to tell - I'm not a lover of dts!!

WHY? Both Dolby and DTS have so much to add to DVD, and dts is a more than capable technology most of the time sounding that little bit better. The accusations over the LFE and Surrounds are unfounded and an out of date arguement in my opinion. Why rob yourself of some great soundtracks????

Because I don't have the kit to do it justice. With your pre power combo you might hear a difference...but with my lowly budget amp, they sound no different to me...I'd rather just press play than faff around in the menu's to get the dts track up...

My amp isnt expensive its a Sony 930 but i notice the difference between most dts tracks and dolby digital and its not just a case of upping the volume level, the bass is tighter, the surrounds are smoother and more integrated into the system and this is because dolby and dts are 2 different beasts and are encoded differently, check out the dts home page ur see wot i'm talkin about, dolby i believe sends some of its 0.1 bass channel to the other 5 speakers while dts does not as just one example.

After all the rubbish reveiws this film got, I was pleasantly suprised how good it was.

Having two of my favourite film subjects helped though. Space and Pirates.

    hi
just bought this disk after seeing a full page add in one of the dvd review magazines.there it was a DTS logo hiding next to the dd version. Even the main suppliers LIKE PLAY AND AMAZON dont even point out its DTS
    Hope this trend continues.
    regards. roger the lodger
