Transporting films to downstairs.

I'm about to move house. My computer will be upstairs but the TV will be downstairs. I need the computer to play films and send sound to my z500 speakers.

What would be the best way to do this?

Any ideas would be great :)

option 1. get a long cable from PC - maybe a HDMI lead depending on your PC and TV.

option 2. get a media player to sit under the TV and connect to the TV then send the videos/music wirelessly to it from your PC upstairs - No HD video though as wireless is too slow for that. Example media players = Popcorn hour or similar (see Streamers and Network Media Players part of the forum for more info)

erm that all I can think of - basically sending video to a TV is easy to do but not cheap unless you are using a long cable.

Im sure you can do over homeplugs and wireless n but yes its not cheep but the best way is to get a network media player or a media centre pc.

Depends on what equipment you have downstairs that you want to stream/play the movies on. A PS3 / 360 and even a Wii are possibilities. A mini PC / HTPC would be an option. Also some DVD players have a USB socket that allow playback of a media from USB sticks / cards / external HDD's.

For AV you really need Homeplugs that are rated at 200Mbps as the slower ones are not up to it, especially with HD video.
As for wireless N, yet again it is not good enough for HD video and a wired (via AV Homeplugs or network cabling) connection is recommended.

Mark.
