    Guys,

Again its another how does the most basic thing work question from me, I now have a PSP, 1Gb Sandisc card and a USB cable however my PC will not show me the card (which the PSP is happy with), is there some software that I need to use to transfer my apparently succesful video conversion?

    Please help

Um - yes! Well at least I have now.. I thought that Windows would recognise the PSP as a portable media device, I didn't realise that you had to effectively turn on the USB port on the PSP.

    Sorry

No worries mate. You have to do it each time which is a bit annoying. As for video software, I use PSPvideo 9, to convert video files so they are able to be played on the psp, but no software is required to transfer the files.

If I was to get PSP video 9, how long on average would it take to rip a movie and then transfer it to the PSP. Are we talking hours or minutes?

It takes about about 2 mins to transfer a movie via drag and drop to the PSP. As for ripping movies it only takes about 5 mins with DVD Decrypter. Decoding it via PSP Video 9 takes about 15-20mins.

Have you got a supercomputer at home? Everyone else who uses PSPvideo 9 waits 1.5 - 2hr for it to encode a 2 hr film

I have a high end PC yes, it all depends on how big the film is and what your system is like. Theres no hard or fast rule to how long it takes. It takes as long as it does.
On average my films are anything from 20 - 2 hrs in terms of decoding.

geez, i've got a 3.4ghz p4 1gb ram but my psp encoding takes slightly less than the playing time of the source material. are you encoding to avc or standard, and do you use cbr or vbr?

mine is qscale 23, avc vbr.

Does Windows recognise your PSP ok when you connect it via USB, XP goes nuts for me and often says it can't recognise the USB device - any suggestions?
