    Hi

I have just purchased an Archos 504 80Gb and am in the process of transferring some of my DVDs across.

Currently I am using DVDDecrypter in IFO mode to make a single vob and using PocketDivx encoder to make a file for the Archos.

I have been looking at the cinema plug–in but not really sure what extra it will give me. Does it mean I can transfer the vob file directly to the Archos and would I see any improvement in quality?

    Thanks.

Yeap,as well as playing most other MPEG2 type files.
There is a noticable difference BUT if you make the bitrate high during the conversion process some of the converted files can come out very good.
If you get the plug-in the convenience is that you dont have to convert.

I have been using "123 DVD Conveter" http://www.dvdvideotool.com/dvdconverter.htm and was well worth the $35 as it's a simple 1 step DVD to finished Divx solution.

I've set the output resolution to match the Archos screen res and converting to Divx format at 700kpbs bitrate

Try the demo as it'll let you convert a 10 minute video clip.

Hi, am a newbie on this forum but I thought I'd just also mention I use ImTOO DVD Ripper Platinum v4.0 (http://***************/dvd-ripper-platinum.html) - find it absolutely brilliant especially if you need to convert the divx into other formats - its a bit more expensive though ($45) but well worth the spend!
