I realise there are probably a dozen threads on this already, but I just wanted a quick answer...

I've converted a video file to .mp4 but it is too large for my USB memory stick. Can I burn this to a Rewritable DVD and will the PS3 give me the copy option like it does do for my USB memory stick?

    yes

or you can use something like RedKawa fileserver on your pc and access your PC's filesystem via the PS3 web browser and transfer the file thru that

Thanks, at least I know now. I will stick with the DVDRW for now and fiddle with the media thing.

I agree with cracker I use File server and it's very easy and fast, by the time you have burned the DVD and copied it over to the PS3 File server would have just copied it over in that time.

I have the kawaa thing... ps3 media centre x i think it called. When i visit the ip on my ps3 browser and goto videos there is nothing their. My guess would be that media centre x is preset to look in a default folder but I have the ps3 video 9 conversion folders on another harddisk... just can;t figure out how to et media centre x to locate the files on the other disk. I suppose if this is the problem I could drag and drop my converted files to where ever media centre x is looking for them, presumably somewhere in my documents?

I dont use the media centre thing, i just use the fileserver to transfer stuff across, but i remember when you setup the fileserver you have to tell your PC which folders the fileserver is allowed to look in, so maybe its the same for the media centre app ???

glad you liked it.. i find it really useful as I was burning DVD's to copy over stuff as i didn't have a USB pen big enough or a External HDD drive to use, now i can just copy the stuff over and even do it as a background download so i can still play PS3 games etc while it's copying. :smashin:
