hi, i have a canon 500d.

i am trying to put some photos back on to the camera so i can view them on my tv but it seems as though the memory card, while in the camera, is read only. my card reader won't recognise the card either.

any ideas?

thanks

ok, i have formatted the card in camera and still no joy:(

2 things. Hit the memory card multiple times with a lump hammer and try again. If that fails, either get another memory card or . . .

Hit the camera with a lump hammer multiple times and try the new memory card.

If both the camera and memory card are a little 'bent' by now, then go to Play.com and get a new A700.

I don't know the camera but I suggest it's an issue with file/folder names which the camera recognises. Reformat the card in camera, this will set up the folder structure which the camera recognises on the card. Take a couple of test shots, and using your PC transfer the pictures you want to view in to the same folder as the test shots you've just taken. As long the photos are jpg's or Canon raw files then the pictures should be readable. Can't offer any advice on the camera settings needed as I use a different brand.

Actually it should be easy to view your pictures off a DVD data disc on most DVD players
or even make a DVD video with the likes of Proshow gold

Im not sure the actual cameras were designed to be playback devices for image data which have been off them and altered in such ways as editing

Some DVD players also have media card readers and there are some gadges wichcii you connect up to the TV which take the mamemry card freeup the Camera
If your memoery card cam take new images taken off the camera , there is nothing wring with it and Id keep the hammer for DIY
However if you do want to try the card you have to refomat it ( in the camera ( not PC) and put the jpegs in the right folder ( usually DCIM) via a Card reader
I suspect the USB connection from camera to PC is one way only and any image will not get onto the card via the USB to PC connection

I agree with what you're saying. It's just my camera does hdmi out which is way after that av out. Anyway i think it is a problem with my card reader. Time for a new one i think!
