    Hi,
How do you transfer WAV files to NW-HD3?
I have used sonicstage 2.3 and 3.0; both same problem. When I tray to transfer wav files to sony device ( in standard mode), it automatically converts it to Atrac  , if I adjust it not to convert, when I tray to transfer wav files, it says : not valid format :suicide: .

Does any of you have had problems transfering WAV files?

    Best regards

    Kravenz

No way to reproduce wav files??

What about the product's official site specs

    Features ....

SonicStage 2.3 software for easy music management and transfers

Supports all popular digital audio compression formats: ATRAC / MP3 / WMA (non-encrypted) / WAV.

Capable to store audio, visual and data files (Word, Powerpoint, ATRAC, Mp3, Jpeg, Mpeg, etc.)...

Even my girlfreind's mp3 player (39€) does support wav :spam:

Yeh they are very clever with their wording.

    Supports
all popular digital audio compression formats: ATRAC / MP3 / WMA (non-encrypted) / WAV.

It supports it, but it won't play it natively. When they say that they mean SS will convert all files that are not already atrac or mp3, to atrac. The only formats the HD3 will playback natively are Atrac3/Atrac3plus/MP3. I thought that it is compatible with WAV, because when you rip a Cd using SS, it allows you to rip it in WAV format. But it will convert it to Atrac if you try and transfer to the player.

    According to Sony

the NW-HD1 did NOT play WAV or MP3 files

and the HD3 DOES play them

note: I had the HD1 before, and whilst it would NOT playback WAVs it WOULD transfer them, into Atrac+ etc

So , clearly, the HD3 supports WAV playback, as why else, is WAV support mentioned ?

( the sonicstage software will always convert wav into atrac )

What is meant by WAV support on HD3 ? and Not on HD1 ?

clearly this means it will playback WAVs as if not, why has Sony specified wav for the HD3 and not for the HD1 ????

I've spent 2 hours on the HD3 today, and STILL CANT SEE A way to transfer WAV files !!!!

I tried doing it in file-manager, and transfered it as a normal wav file, but the sony doesnt recognise it, once u disconnect the pc link

    ANY HELP ANYONE ?

    :lease:

Well, thats it, the HD3 does NOT play wav files

which is actually the reason I bought it !!!

I have no idea why Sony decided to state MP3 / WAV support on this player, when clearly it does not playback wavs

SURE it will CONVERT wavs to atrac, but WE ALREADY knew that, as the SS software does that ANYWAY

So, SONY have LIED and tricked people into thinking it plays WAV files

My unit is going back for a REFUND TODAY

20gb allows me about 12 CDs in wav format - good enoug for me, but the Sony doest allow it

    why ?

whats the big deal Mr Sony ? are you trying to gain customers or not ?

doesnt make any sense, SS is rubbish, and slows my powerfull pc right down, even the mouse movement is affected..........

    very poor................ :hiya:
