I have an old Orange Motorola PAYG phone with some credit still on it. I am getting a Vodaphone Nokia 3100 tomorrow. I wondered if I unlock the new telephone and put the Orange sim card in, will the credit, telephone number and phone book be transferred to the new phone, or do I have to register the new phone with Orange.
Sorry to sound thick but I'm very much a novice with mobiles.

If you get your new phone unlocked then yes you can use your old sim card in it and you will still be able to use your old number, credit and phone book/numbers :)

Thanks for your reply. I only have £30 credit on the phone but I hate throwing money away.

As I only use the phone rarely it will definately last me that long.

Any thoughts on the best way to unlock it, I've downloaded a program called DCT4 calculator which looks pretty simple, although I may let the guys at the local market do it for me as they probably know what they are doing.
