    Hi all.

My son is getting a ps3 for christmas and I wondered if I transfer all data to the new 1 can I still use the old 1 downstairs as the main family one or will there be problems on the network?

He has his own account which I don't use or I could open him a master on the new 1?

Will there be conflicts here (its nearly as complicated as time travel paradoxes)!

    Thanks in advance.

He can have his account on both consoles, but will only be able to sign in on one at a time.

Thanks very much for answering. If he is playing under his name upstairs (not a master account but linked as a sub user to the original downstairs account) can we still go online at the same time downstairs using a different user name?

Sorry to be a pain but we all share game saves etc.

I don't know too much about master/sub accounts, but you can not go online at the same time using the same PSN sign in I.D.

Bear in mind you cannot transfer all of the game saves, as some are protected. You also cannot have some downloadable content on more than one PS3 - eg Singstar songs. I can understand why they do this, but wish they could tie it to an account rather than the PS3 (so that it only works if signed in as the purchasers account).

If you try to sign in on the 2nd PS3 with the same logon, it will sign out the first one. Not a problem, you just have to remember otherwise it's really annoying! Using a different login (but still having the account stored on the PS3) is fine.

Sony should take into account that people might have more than one PS3 in the house and make it easier to keep game saves in sync without having to manually copy them.
