Bought the DVD for 6.99GBP and watched it last night, what an amazing movie, [STOREY LINE SPOILER ALERT BY MOD]

I knew Denzils character was a dirty cop, but I was not expecting him to shaft his partner in the way that he did, lucky for him he saved that schoolgirl from a raping.

    Excellent movie. :hiya:

It's a good film but I'm still unconvinced that Denzil deserved an oscar for it:rolleyes:

I thought Ethan Hawke had the better role and gave a better perfomance.
Could be wrong on this one but I think he was nominated for a best supporting actor oscar, which does not make any sense as he was in the film more than Denzel Washington.

I too never thought Washington's acting was Oscar material and it certainly seemed as though the night was fixed but there you go. It still surprises how much kudos this film was said to have and got lavished for it. The film isn't that great and I too felt that Hawke gave the better performance.

Yes, brilliant film. However, I'd like to redress the balance here and say that Denzel's performance was more mature than Ethan's, and required far more variety of emotions.

I agree with the point about Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Ethan was in at about as much as Denzel. I don't think it was a fix though - there was nothing to be gained from giving main Oscars to black actors apart from a surprise!!
