According to HFC the recordings of the first 4 tracks are inferior to the rest of those on her first album but the difference is only discernible on the best kit.
Can anyone spot any differences and if so what are they?
I didn’t notice anything in particular.

So there seem to be 3 options
    1. Our kit isn't up to the mark.
    2. We're deaf.
    3. HFC are talking rubbish.

I havent got that particular disc but I have others with high res stereo tracks, I access them through the on-screen menu of the disc, but to tell you the truth I cant hear anything different from the 96hz tracks, but I do understand that you will have try it for yourself.
My player is a Pioneer 757Ai.

    Eddie,

I agree that we all hear things differently.

I have listened to a few hi-res stereo tracks and compared them to the original CD version (e.g. LA Woman and Rumours). The difference (to me) is not subtle.

This may be in part due to the equipment (I use Meridian DVD-A and DSP speakers). But, I also think that if you take a hi-res track that has been 'recently' re-mastered from the original tapes, using higher sample rate and modern/up-to-date studio equipment, the result would be better even on normal red book CD, compared to a CD which was cut maybe 20 years ago.

IMO, the new hi-res tracks are quite stunning on a lot of releases (but not all)

I'll check the Chapman tracks out on her first CD :)blush: ) also.

OK..had listen last night and would offer that tracks 1-3 are a lot flatter sounding/not as rich as tracks 5 onwards. You have to discount track 4 as it is entirely a vocal solo with the odd foot tap/thump.

It sounds like they were laid down in a different session, maybe even different studio.

It's not massive, but, it is noticable.

    Sceptic,

For 2 channel listening, the kit is a Meridian 598 player and DSP5500 main speakers.

Best way to hear the difference is play the first three tracks, then 5,6,& 7. Then go back to 1,2, & 3. The first 3 sound OK in isolation, but, quite different from the rest.
