im looking for a toy from my youth.

those little 'bangs', little bits of tissue paper with gunpowder type stuff in them, you would throw them at the floor and they would go bang.

anyone know what they are called or where i might get some?they were great fun.

What a pleasant image:D Just found this site that sells them for a fiver so I might get them and see if there's a Mr Tickle type turn one. Looking at the descriptions I think it'll be the slithering snakes.

EDIT: Don't think I'll bother as they charge £20 postage.

I'll have to get some of those bangers as well, we used to get a load on a Saturday, many a fun afternoon throwing those. Best one was getting this bald bloke on his bonce with them at the cinema, he was covered in loads of soot marks. :rotfl:

I used to want one of those Evil Knievel stunt bikes after somebody at my primary school brought one in on toy day but he wouldn't let me have a go. Children are mean.

use to love the fun snaps....altho more fun was wrapping a couple of reams of explosive strips (the kind you put in the toy guns) around a 2p piece, then a little bit of sellotape, then throw it up high in the air (as in a hundred yards or so) and listen for the bang as it landed....

That reminds me of those bombs that you used to be able to get, they were made out of plastic with a metal end that was spring loaded to hold a cap in place and you'd then through the thing up in to the air and when it landed it would set the cap off or fall down the nearest grate.

Yes, I remember playing with those. Can you still buy rolls of caps or do they try and keep children and explosives apart these days?

Stink bombs were the things that gave me the most laughs, together with those tiny [5mm] "cigars" that we inserted into cigarettes to make them explode when smoked.
Do these still exist? They certainly helped some people to give up smoking, even if only temporarily.

They don't seem to be as popular as they used to be but some places still sell them. I think the guns that can launch soft projectiles have taken over now.:(

Anyone remember those Spiderman strap-on-your-wrists, sucker-bullet with string attached things?
I broke bones over my 'love/belief' in them!

does anybody remember that lethal toy, i can't remember the name now. but it was two round wooden (or plastic) balls with string attached and a hoop for your fingers..then you move your hand up and down to make the balls meet above your hand and below your hand...was it called Klonkers or something ?

Nobody ever bought me toys when I was a child :(
I had to make my own explosive devices using proper materials. Two large bolts a nut of the same thread, put the nut halfway on the bolt, fill the void with the scrapings from the tips of swan vesta matches and then screw in the end of the second bolt as tight as possible. Throw this on the ground and Bingo!!!
