Just read on the IMDB that toy story 1 and 2 are to be withdrawn from sale on both DVD and VHS and locked away in the disney vaults! What's that all about?! Does that mean I've got until May 1 to buy the ultimate toybox pack?

    Disney have always done this.

They roll out a title and then withdraw and bring it back out years later.

    creates a demand apparently

Luca$ did this with the Original Star Wars Trilogy on VHS. They did it with the Bond movies too.

Why not buy the R1 boxset ? Only a couple of quid more than the Toy Story on it's own (ie, like the French Connection boxset, £2 more for the set!)

And there's your answer right there. And, I might add, reason enough NOT to buy it. :)

I have the 2-disk Toy Story 1 & 2 set that I bought from CD-WOW ages ago (one of the first 100 DVDs I bought as it goes). It's definitely THX.

then get it from dvd soon - they mark the outside of the parcel with CAD $ 12 for each title. spend CAD 100 on at least 2 disks and get free delivery.

Thats how I've been getting things like Space 1999 mega set

I believe the disney policy has always been to delete their movies for 7 years, and then re-release them for about 12-18months.

They have always done this on all their backcatalogue stuff.

Their are the obvious marketing reasons, (lets remember folks, Disney does exist to make money) but also there is the intention to keep the movies 'fresh' for each generation.

A movie soon deminishes when its on TV every bank holiday.

Jungle Book is being advertised on Play HERE . Looks like a bare bones version (same as the R1 I got a few years ago). No release date either.

I though this was in line to get a 'Collectors Edition' treatment much like the new Lion King due later in the year but maybe not by the looks of things. :thumbsdow :thumbsdow

I would have thought that this marketing policy creates an increased demand for pirate copies during the period when the legitimate copies are unavailable.

Does anyone else find Disney ( and for that matter George Lucas ) just a bit too precious about their movies?

    Just a thought
