Went for an audition of some kit I was looking at for when we (hopefully) move house. I was originally looking at some in wall speakers but after a long chat with John from wired for living in Blackburn I decided to go up to their shop and have a listen to the totem arros. I'm so glad I did, they sound absolutely amazing, the sort of sound you could just listen to all day. They were coupled with an arcam a90 amp to start with, then later with an exposure amp. in my setup they'll be fed from my HCPC with an RME soundcard so I was looking for a system that wouldn't be too bright. I think I've found the perfect answer. They are incredibly detailed but there was just no harshness to them at all. They are very good looking speakers too, I'd been on the totemacoustic website before going up to blackburn and measured out the size of them but I was still very surprised to see them in the flesh, its hard to imagin speakers this size producing the sort of sound they do but even in the quite large listening room at WFL they easily filled it with sound, I'm sure they'll be fine in my living room which is a bit smaller than that. The finish on them is superb, especially the cherry veneer. I took a compilation CD that I burnt with as many different types of music on as I could. the setup was faultless with everything I tried, from acoustic jazz stuff to rock and hip hop, nothing was really left wanting. I also listened to the totem staffs (next level up and about £1300) but actually preferred the arros. I know a few people on here have them so was wondering if any one had any comments after owning them for a while, any problems or are they just as impressive when you get them home?
