Total Virgin

I am a total virgin when it comes to home cinema setups but I finally have some spare cash to start.

I am looking at starting with a Marantz SR5400 Av receiver and a Eltax Liberty 5 speaker package.

Can anyone offer me some advice on this. Is there a better setup I could be looking at for around the same amount of cash. I will be wanting to add a CD player in the future.

This is as good a starting setup as you can ask for for the price. (good old richer sounds). There is some mixed reviews about the marantz but the eltax's are well liked. Just remember to spend some money on decent speaker cable (silver aniversary @£5 a meter is the dogs) at least for the fronts and the center.

A little hint is to take out the bar connecting the speakers posts and use a lenth of the speaker cable to connect them instead . Buy 4 banana plugs and then it all becomes easier to set up.
