total Newbie ! can you recomend some speakers + sub buget £500-£600

    Hi > In a few weeks time I am leaving the nest and moving in to my new flat.

    as I now have my own place, would like to buy a sett of speakers + subb to give me that surround sound effect.

    Just recently bought a AMP of ebay the other night >> well 2 be honest with I didnt have a clue if wot I was buying was any good > hopefully you can let me no.

    any way I am now looking for a set of speakers + sub to go with it >> can you recomend anything to me >>> I have been looking at the kef speakers + sub package >>>>>>> kef KHT 2005.2

    are they any good >> and most inportantlly will the work well witht he AMP I just bought >??

    or do you recomend I buy another make of speakers.??

    any help or advice you can give me is most apreciated !!

    do you want small speakers or big ones, what will you be listening to?

    will be for DVD movies playback >> in a small-ish room so I would say small speakers.

    wots the cheapest these kef KHT 2005. are going for ?

    1 thing I dont understand is >> wot is 5.1 > 6.1 etc ?? do you have a set of thos espeakers your self that you gave me the links 2 >???


    do they stand there own against the Kef 2005.2 .??

    Another set worth reviewing is the Mordaunt Short Avant Premier Plus at about £480

    Nice amp you have as well. It will serve you well :smashin:

    5.1 and 5.1 refere to the amount of speakers (the 5 or 6) and the .1 referes to the subwoofer. So a 5.1 system is 2 fronts, 2 rears, a center and a subwoofer.:lesson:

    If you had enough room I would advise you to look in the classifieds as a good bloke on here called 'Kazman' is selling a nice pair of MS 914's and a 905 center for £250:devil: Then add a sub for approx £220 and some rears for approx £100 and cable and there you are :D

    I've just dropped the price of these to £200, yes, THREE full size Mordaunt Short speakers for £200!!

    You devalue those things much further before I sell mine and there will be trouble matey. I have ordered some grills for the office.

    Mate, I can't believe that these aren't selling, I'm gobsmacked. For that money, they blow almost anything in the next price bracket above away with ease.

    Will give it a little longer before moving them to ebay.

    They are fantastic Dulux. Im very impressed with them and they never let me down whatever I throw at them :smashin:

    ToF, you are gonna hate me for this, but I'm left with little choice but to sell my 914's and centre for even less :eek:

    They are now £125 for the MS914's, and £40 :eek: for the Centre :)
