Toshiha XS34 and DV IN capture sample rates

I have a Toshiba XS34 and I want to start to download my home movies from:-
1. Sony miniDV camera via firewire input and
2. old 8mm camera via (I guess) AV plugs on the front.
and convert to DVD.

I would just like to know what I should set the capture sample rate too?

There appear to be numerous default settings on the system and including some manual setups for custom rates, any pointers in setting these would be appreicated.

NOTE: I think I can get my head around the editing side, (just about) but its the sample quality I'm interested in for the DVD output on standard players.

Thanks in advance....
