Had the WLT66. Loved it. Was going to buy the C3030D - when I heard the X series was about to be released. Waited ............. and ........
    ok - only 2 HDMI and 50hz - but.................... UNDER £1k :D for this.....

    http://hdtvorg.co.uk/news/articles/2007042801.htm

Has my patience been rewarded? Any owners out there yet? Is the PQ up to the hype?

    How much did you pay?

    Where purchased info greatly appreciated.

Contrast and brightness looks ok - tried all weekend to see if there was one on display. No luck.

Stuff it - I think I will buy.

Who is the best on line provider?

I was going to buy the new toshiba panel but decided against it in the end and went for the Sharp LC42-xd1e.

There wasn't to much information floating around about the new Tosh panel but after reading a lot of information on previous sets it put me off.

Im so happy that i got the LC42-xd1e as its 1080p set also and the 360 looks lovely:)

Any purchase advice you may be able to offer would be greatly appreciated madmaxII. What will you be feeding it mate?

The PQ aspects that would make interesting reading are your views on:

    • motion judder
    • smearing on camera pans
    • banding
    • blacks

I hope it ticks all these boxes and is as good as the WLT66 (minus the banding of course).

Ta madmaxII - I notice you are coming from the 42WLT66 as I will be. It will be interesting to read your views on the new panel as a comparison. Will the newer technology be as good?
    Good luck.

Received the new X series today
but its damaged :thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow
another one is being despatched

One thing i did notice tho is how much smaller than the 42WLT66 it is. The area below the screen is more than half the size. and NO BANDING.

 Well even tho the X I had delivered today has a dent in it it is very impressive
1, Contrast is much better with deeper richer colours
2, the steps in shading across the screen is better virtually unnoticable
    3, No banding
    4, Better sound
5, smaller physically, sits on the wall better
6, remote no longer feels like it was made for Noddy
    7, EPG transitions more positive
8, connections on rear in better place easier to connect even when on the wall
only issue I have so far is I can't get my ATI 9800pro to run with 1080 x 50 or 60 hz only 30hz but that may be a limitation of my card it is getting on a bit. I will continue to fiddle.
I won't bother running throught the colour setup DVD as its gonna get swapped again next week but I will let you know how i get on with it over the w/e
but I have to say its miles better than my 42 WLT66 and I thought that was good.

    Great news madmaxII.

That's a good start. I have a Pioneer Tuner/Amp which means sound is not a main worry and currently the 42WLT66 swings nicely on the Nexus tilt and turn arm next to 3 flush fitting mini-trunking ducts which makes connections a doddle.

Contrast box ticked. Better remote. Improved programme guide, miles better than the WLT66, newer technology, £300+ less???? You are off to a flier my man!

    Nice one!

I'm waiting for my replacment to arrive befre I start to explore the setups to their full.
however so far I am very impressed with this set it is a huge improvement over the WLT66. the only issue I have is from the PC via DVI-HDMI it is much worse than the WLT66 when reading emails etc when the new one is up and running I willpost a report and some pictures.

Lo Bigmondy and Madmax i too have bougth this set but in 37" version and again can only echo what madmax has already said and that is that this is a very impresive screen indeed my only gripe is that at the mo i cant seem to set the pic coming from my old ntl digi box dont get me wrong itsa a good pic but it dosent look as clear as my old sammy 32" so madmax any ideas on what settings the pic should be like backlight/contrast /colour ect as i just cant seem to get it right.

Top TV though and ps3/360 looks the absolute dogs danglys:):):).

Glazza - off-topic - but how quiet is your PS3 on Blue-Ray compared to an ordinary DVD player?

Would it be ok in your living room as sole HD player?

Hey bigmondy the PS3 is very quiet whilst playing BluRay m8 and theres little difference if any to playing standard DVDAS in the PS3 also.

I have no doubts about it m8 it will and is my sole HD player.

    Hope this helps m8.

Can any of you guys say whether the Tosh WLT68 is "better" than these new X series? I'd mainly be using one for xbox 360 and dvd (through an upscaling player). I'd probably be looking at the 42"
At the moment, the wlt68 seems to be more expensive than the X. Is that because of the m100 on the wlt68? Would it make much of a difference? I know that the Z series will have the m100, but I'm not sure I can wait that long. BTW I currently have a tosh 32wlt58. Which one would I most likely see the biggest improvement from?

Sorry to correct you but it deos do 1080 over component and hdmi and also using the exact scan option will give you 1:1 pixel mapping over both connections. ;)

    I stand corrected
if I had a device capable of outputing 1080P through my component then the exact scan option would no longer be grayed out
no need to apologise, my bad
