Does anyone know of any super sekrit stockists for a 37WLT58? I've been calling round the usual suspects all morning and they've either never heard of the new range or quote supplies way into October.

If anyone knows of a stockists where I can even get a pre-order into a queue I'd be grateful. Our 32" CRT packed up and we're down to our last 14" !! it's a desperate situation and it's that time of the year when it's slap bang between older models being heavily discounted (WL56 range) and the new stuff making its way into the supply chain.

Anyway, my reasons for wanting the WLT58 is the 2x HDMI (Sky HD and X Box 360 later this year) and the gorgeous floor stand that included.

Cheers guys - first post here but I've been following your wisdoms for some time now.

FYI ... Xbox 360 won't sport an HDMI cable at launch according to MS, just VGA/Component/RGB/Composite.

This model or at least the 37" version has yet to be released by Toshiba - according to their CS they have put back the launch twice now, but would give no details as to why. They informed me that it would be October at the earliest before I could expect to see more details. I am looking for a HD Ready 37" LCD with integrated Freeview tuner, and the only game in town at present is the JVC or Philips, though the Philips does not even boast Pixel Plus, so I am not sure what sort of PQ this particular t.v. produces - probably not very good.

What Hi-Fi list the WLT58 range, in the October issue, as 'Show Star Debut!' for their Novemver 4th-6th show in Hammersmith, London.

Do you have a link to a web site for the shop or is it a local one, if so could you view it.
You will be better looking at pq first before you place a order unless you know how good it is already?
Has anybody seen this set running?

Well after 4 months of looking at plasmas and lcd screens i 've got it down to
    philips 9830 42"
    Tosh wlt58 42"
and last chose Sony V series

Just need to have a good viewing, if i dont pick a tv soon i will never get one... :)

    Hi,

I have one (37WLT58) on order and the delivery date on the web states 30/09/2005.

I called Toshiba early in september and they said they usually release products towards the end of the month to suppliers and they expect "general availability" to be early october.

From what i have found the existing 56 displays are 8ms response. Took me a long time to find and that assumes that the glass is the same in both the 56 and the 58.

    Can't wait :)

    Mart

martmiller or anyone else that can help do you know if the wlt58 will be good enough to handle xbox & xbox360 games you say about the ms response time i dont really understand this.
ive ordered the 32wlt58 and am looking forward to this set aswell do you think it will be able to compete well against the other lcd's around (Toshiba sony and samsung)
and last question do you know if this is an identical set as the model before but with an added digital tuner and hdmi ports?

Finally! It is on their website. Had my eye on the 32/37 for a while now, because of the 2 HDMI sockets...and seen the 32 of £1090...anybody got any reviews or bought one? Opinions?

Similar to the 56 I think. But this one has 2x HDMI and Component, making it officially HD Ready. Not sure about the freeview tuner though.

If you can find any old issues of a home entertainment mag, look for a review of the 56 model then you may get an idea of its performance. The newer 58 models are the same as 56 picture wise. Only improvements are in connectivity and maybe styling.

I was thinking of getting the 37WLT58 but reviews for the 56 version said there was picture noise with the HDMI connection. So not so sure now.

I'm going to the show in November, so hopefully there will be some good HD demos on these sets to help me decide wether to take the plunge.

A sales guy from Comet told me that you can screen burn in on LCD tvs.

I have two LCD 19" monitors and I use them for tv viewing (tv card), graphics and audio editing, I leave the montors on for hours on end with static pictures and have never seen ghosting or burn in.

I told the Comet guy this and he tried to convince me.
He said he had one himself and got screen burnin but he said it dissapeared when he put his computer back on. So I said to him that it was not screen burn in.

I said to him that there was no phosbers and no radiation was emitted so it was impossible.

These sales people talk some **** at Curries and Comet. If their selling this technology then they should be up on it.

Most forum members are more informed than these monkeys.

Luke_1983uk - Spec wise, yes the tv will be fine for XBox 360 as it is HDReady. You will need the advanced XBOX 360 pack as it has the component connectors, as opposed to scart. The component connection will be needed to view things in High Deffinition.

As far as MS response time, it basically refers to the time the screen takes to respond, so the higher the number the longer it takes and you will get motion blur in fast moving images eg sport or action, the lower the figure the better. this tv is supposed to have 8ms response, which is good for LCD.

Things I have read sugest that anything less than 16ms is needed for motion blur not to be noticeble.

    hope this helps

    Martin

Any places with stock. I have to say the styling of the 32" 58 is smarter than the 56 particularly with the stand. Even though I don't plan to use the IDTV I'm really drawn to this set.

http://www.electricaldiscountuk.co.uk/itfx_product_details.php?pid=4972 shows a good price with the stand. Not sure about stock though.

EDIT: Okay getting a little bit cheaper http://www.tvandvideodirect.com/product.php?xProd=1962?xProd=1962 although tvandvideodirect have a strange delivery scaling. EDUK would probably work out cheaper.

Was the "free" stand on the 32WLT58 a dealer offer?

I understood that it was only "free" on 37 & 42WLT58 models.

that is what i thought and said to him but he said no it is free with this model as well, i told him i didnt need it and he phoned and told toshiba what i said and they stated that the tv cant be dispatched without the cabinet stand. so from what ive been told it comes as standard with the 32'' aswell as the others.
another thing i was told is that the tv has gone into short supply.
