    Hi Guys,

Recently my wife gave me permission to get a RP TV (yessss)

I live in Australia and have been given an opportunity to "look" at the Sony 48" KPES48SN1 100 Hz with DRC

or the Toshiba 50" 50A9UXA with Digital 100 Frame Scan &
    Hyper Progressive Scan

    http://www.castel.com.au/products/toshiba/rp_50a9.htm

The Toshiba is $100 more than the Sony.

I'm not looking at a widescreen TV (too expensive)

I have seen the units only once side by side, and I liked the Sony because with DRC on 1250 the picture looked smoother.

The Toshiba from what I know is newer technology and I wanted to know what all your thoughts were.

From what I've read Toshiba seems to have a very favourable response compared to Sony, so I'd like to know your thoughts.

If there are any people out there with similar Tv's (both brands) can you let me know what you like and dislike about the unit.

Thanks in advance I look forward to reading the replys.

G,Day mate, (sorry could not resist that.

I got the Panasonic RP tv (TX42PT10) Its a great tv and I have not seen one bad thread on this site about it. I did not go for the sony as there is a lot of negatives on this site about sony as a whole (and i had 3 faulty ones before my panny). As for the tosh, the picture was great but I could not see any big difference between that and the panny. Also, the build qaulity of the Panny was far better. ( my mate has the tosh 42wh18b which is how I compared the two) the only thing worth saying is that on the tosh you get a far wider viewing angle where as on the panny you dont have.

    good luck!! hope this helps:cool:

My dad still has one of these but it's just packed up. What are the odds of getting it fixed now?
