So its started... hopefully this Vestel produced OLED will lead to more cheaper branded OLEDs.

Made by Vestel, only Netflix and Youtube 4K no HDR, it might be cheap, but will it be any good, Vestel smart system is awfully basic, will wait for the AVF review of this, but trying to return to the TV game by selling TV's licensed out not exactly a great start.

It seems all Toshiba does now is license there name out to the big OEM company's they don't even produce TV's for the american market anymore according to a quick google.

I don't think toshiba are the company we all remember many years ago sadly.

Sadly you are correct, the last great TV Toshiba made IMO was the Picture frame CRT models.

Wonder if these ones will actually appear?
according to the article:
"While we know the estimated prices for the 55in and 65in OLED TVs – £1600 and £3200 respectively – Toshiba hasn’t yet released price details for the rest. We expect them in in the next few weeks, which is also when we should see them appearing in stores."

No probably about it really - Vestel still have the Toshiba licence in Europe, despite Toshiba selling their entire TV division to Hisense last year.
We asked Vestel for further comment and a spokesperson has confirmed that "the sale of Toshiba’s TV business will not affect the brand licensing agreement that it has in place for Toshiba TV production and sales across Europe. Vestel remains committed to this pan-European brand licensing business and looks forward to maintaining and building on its success over the course of the coming years."
Hisense acquires Toshiba TV business

Of course, it'll be an LG panel no matter what, so it's all down to Vestel's picture processing from there as to how it competes. You never know, it may surprise people. Phillips produced one of the best OLEDs on the market in 2017, despite generally being considered a second tier brand at best.
