I was going to get this DVD player at an excellent price but I read on a foreign hi-fi magazine a letter from a reader who complained that his Tosh made a strange noise on the first two or three tracks of any CD he played. He got an exchange, but the new unit vibrated too. Then the dealer told him that there was some coupling problem. Apparently the only solution was to sand the inside ring of all CDs.

Please can you confirm any of this?

    Thanks a lot.

No noise on mine, either cd or dvd playback. The 9200 in the USA had some problems with noisy drives when they first came out but its been rectified now.

Everything OK here too. No noise and no vibration, virtually silent. As for sanding down the inner ring, this would probably create more problems than it would solve. How come dvd's aren't affected? Sounds like ******** to me.
