I am quite interested in this player from a few years ago and having done a search it seems to be pretty well recommended especially now it is heavily discounted. I have seen the various threads on Leconcepts and although there have been problems in the past the popular opinion seems to be positive. Does anyone know where these discontinued players get sourced from, I guess there must be tons of stock lying around the planet?

I'm not sure where they get them from but I purchased one from them a few months ago and it was..

    a) Brand New
    b) A UK Model modified for multi region

I only have praise for this player, both its video and audio performance haven't been significantly bettered by the current crop of premium players and £500 is a real bargin for such a high quality device.

As to why they are still around, I don't expect many of these players where sold at £1300 and I guess LE Concepts purchased the entire stock from Toshiba when the new 9500 was launched.

Can I ask how this fairs against more modern players, say a Sony 930 with full prog scan and SACD?
Only because I would like to upgrade from a Sony 900v, but it must have 2 scarts, not sure if the Toshiba does?

I take it that this would be a worthy replacement for my Tosh SD100 for £499 then, display will be Hitachi 42PD3000 plasma?

Pseudo PAL PS only. Still a superb player though in all respects. Probably be a long time before I get rid of mine (have 2 of them).

Got to add my name to the list of people recommending the SD900. It is a great player.
It does progressive NTSC, but only psudo PAL prog which is far worse than interlaced PAL - so not worth useing IMHO.
Interlaced PAL still gives an excellent picture and the audio is said to be excellent - although I don't use the SD900 for CD replay so can't really comment.

    Highly recommended.

Bought mine from LEC about 10 months ago...think around the £600+ mark.

Not a single problem. It really is a great machine and at the price now a real steal.

Can only see me changing when I require DVI ....(not for some while yet as I will need to change my screen).

Ged - Only a single scart I'm afraid!

Well I have ordered one, don't know when I will get it though as they say it could be a "couple of weeks", apparently they don't debit you untill shipping. There goes the £500 I saved on the John Lewis price match for the plasma!

Funny enough that is what they said to me, but.........

........full value of order debited from CC on day of order but first item not delivered for about 3 weeks and full delivery never received. Refund took 4 or 5 months and only received after passing complaint to CC company to investigate.
