I found this on another forum: Toshiba SD390.

It appears to be the same hack as that used for the SD190, which I found here: DVD Hacks Discussion Forum - DVDhacks community: Toshiba SD190

    - Power On
    - Open Tray
    - Press 9879 0 (0 stands for Multiregion, you may press buttons 1 to 6 to choose a specific region)
    - A Message appears stating that "The Reg.No was changed to region 0"

    I hope this helps.

Please let me know if this works, as I'm interested in purchasing a Toshiba SD390 myself, after seeing a very good review in one of the Home Cinema magazines.

Can anybody else confirm or deny if the hack I gave above works for this player?

I've had one source confirm that it worked for them, but another cannot get it to work for his player.

    Thanks in advance.

Just applied this hack and watched a region 1 DVD with it - thanks!

Also, the first time I've hooked this up via HDMI - looked great and has shown up the SD Freeview picture to be awful by comparison!
