I have just purchased the Tosh to go with my budget home cinema system...

I bought the Tosh from dvd.co.uk and it's the multi-region version...

Now I find that when I play Region 1 disks I have funny lines appearing in the 'letter box' part of the TV...If the film in not widescreen then the lines appear in the same place, at the top of the picture...THESE lines DO NOT appear with region 2 disks...so does that mean is my chipped DVD player?

Here is the system in full:
    AV Receiver - Marantz SR5200
    DVD - Toshina SD220e
    Front - Wharfedale Diamond 8.3
Center - Wharfdale Diamond 8 Center
Rear - JBL TLX-110 (to be replaced)
    Sub - Yamaha YSTSW320
Front Cable - Gale XL160-2 Bi-Wire (to be replaced)
    Center/Rear Cable - QED Original
    Scart - IXOS 141/150
Coax - Precious Metals Coppertech Numero
Interconnect - Precious Metals Coppertech Alpha
    Sub Cable - Profigold PGA4103
    So what is going wrong?

Any advice on this problem or my setup as a whole will be gratefully received...by the way the TV is not worth mentioning as it's some Italian brand that came with the house...

    Cheers

This is probably your problem. The TV will not be properly compatible with NTSC. Thats what it sounds like anyway
