    Thanks in advance.

I would recommend Leading Edge Concepts also.I was having a look at my mates 220e last night.Nice slim design but i am disappointed that Toshiba felt the need to write Component Video Output on the front of it.This is unnecessary and just amounts to boasting on their behalf. In my opinion too many manufacturers and adverts are listing technical terms that are either meaningless or are not understood by the average person in the street.

Thanks for the feedback, but I forgot to mention that I'm after the black version and it appers that LEConcepts only offer the silver.

    Will keep looking.

Have you actually seen the 220e for sale in the UK in black? I had a look at the 24-7 site you mentioned and they show a picture of a silver one but dont make any reference to colour at all as far as i could see. The reason im asking is because i was told that for the moment anyway,it is only available in silver in the UK.

This colour issue for the 220 has been of interest to me because i was considering one,but would only want it in black.I know from speaking to someone else on this forum that they have seen it in black in Germany.I phoned Toshiba's customer services (their website is hopeless for up do date info) and they told me that the 220 is definitely only available in silver for the UK.
I had a look at the site you mentioned and it looks to me like they could be sourcing their players from outside the UK.

I've only seen the 220 in black, not silver.

Have there been any reviews of this player published yet? Is it (at least) as good as the 210?

Yes,you are the person that i spoke to before about this, sorry that i couldnt remember your user name. You state your location as Germany so my original point still stands(or to be more accurate,Toshiba's point),the SD220 is not officially available in the UK in black.
I haven't read any reviews on the 220 yet but i was having a look at one my friend got at the beginning of the week. What can i say? obviously looks different, but other than that no apparent differences from the 210,which is by no means a bad thing!:)

Can't find a euro site stocking the 220 in black / multiregion format.

Looks like if I want a black multiregion i'll have to stick with the 210e at £174 from www.dvdplayers.co.u.

    I'm expecting it today.

I'll let you guys know my thoughts when it arrives, but as I'm also awaiting my Loewe Aconda I can't really give it a decent review yet using my 9-year old Grundig RP set!

220 only in Silver in UK, unles you get an import.

Had a chat with a German colleague and he said press in Europe say changes are only external cosmetic details, same chip / transport etc internally as SD210E.

So I've been considering black multiregion verisions of the SD210E (£169) & SD5810E (£259) inc del from www.webelectricals.co.uk

    I've gone for the 210.

    Thanks for all the feedback

    I bought a mutli-region SD220 from Sound & Vision in Bolton for £169 inc. VAT & delivery.

I'm very pleased with it although I have a problem displaying R1 discs on my 21" 4:3 TV. I've since confirmed though that this is a problem with the TV and not the player.

I've been very pleased with it, both picture and sound seem excellent, and the audio output from CD's is really good too, except perhaps for the most audiophile listener.

Home Cinema Choice reviewed it last month and gave it the same sort of thumbs up given by a number of mags for its predecessor the 210. I think, as has been said, it is very similar inside to the 210, except that HCC did refer to some improvements Toshiba have made on the latest model - sorry I can't remember right now what they are.

    HTH, PeterL
