can anyone help me, i am having problems with my dvd player.
i have about 20 dvds in my collection which it plays fine, but over the past few weeks i have rented 6 dvds and my player has not been able to play 3 of them.
it was chipped for multi-region by a well known high street retailer

    thanks

    ps

when these dvds where returned to the hire shop they where checked and played fine on there player

If they are blockbuster specials then this could well be the problem. I am amzed at how dirty and scratched some of the disks are. I'm sure some parents are letting their kids eat of them!!!!

Are you sure it's not an RCE problem?

Some discs have RCE encoding on them, which on some MR machines means that the disc won't play (particularly some of the older one's IIRC). In some instances you can overcome the problem by setting the DVD player to a specific region manually (as opposed to having the player on an "automatic" setting). Judging by the fact that the discs play ok at the store, I suspect it may be an issue at your end...

    Just a thought...
