Got a feeling this only upscales via HDMI, but can't find the manual. Anyone know if it upscales via component also? Thanks

Probably not, but your TV does.

Ain't got a telly yet :D Am looking at JVC HV32D40BK which accepts HD signal via component but not sure if this player outputs this over component.

It only upscales via HDMI. It can do 576i/576p via component though

My Sony has HDMI output which is upscaled to 720p 0r 1080i.
The component (I knew what you meant) sends 576i or p.
My Panasonic upscales this to suit its natural resolution.
Your proposed TV should be the same.
The component picture on my set up is superb, can't see any better with Hdmi which is also superb.

    Use decent component cables though.

Thanks for all the replies very much appreciated!!
Well i've just got to sort out a decent component cable now, is it true you should budget 10%, in my case this would be £50 (ouch) . Was hoping for more like £25 but i suppose you get what you pay for.
